We went to Shake Shack’s Innovation Kitchen to sample the three new holiday menu items, and let’s say that if you want to try all of them during this holiday season, you might have to go to Shake Shack three times.
Poppy’s Sugar Cookie Shake
The first item on the agenda is the reintroduction of the much-loved Sugar Cookie Shake. This shake is prepared with sugar cookie frozen custard, as is customary, but instead of shortbread pieces, it contains special cookie dough pop candy. Additionally, it is topped with whipped cream and cotton candy.
This popping white chocolate-coated cookie dough candy was made especially for the shake, and if we had our druthers, we’d say that from this point forward, the shake should always be made with popping candy. In general, this one is a classic; when it comes to picking something to read, you can always go right with a classic.
Branch’s Chocolate Peppermint Shake
Next up is the Branch’s Chocolate Peppermint Shake, which is a shake that made a partial return in 2019, but this time around, the recipe at Shake Shack’s Innovation Kitchen has been tweaked a little bit.
For the first time, the restaurant will combine its chocolate and vanilla frozen custards in its version of the Chocolate Peppermint Shake, which is traditionally only made with chocolate custard. In addition to that, it has mint fudge sauce, which imparts that traditional chocolate-peppermint flavor.
However, to make it Branch’s shake, it will be topped with whipped cream and blue and green mint candies designed to look like the troll.
The combination of chocolate and vanilla in this shake moderates the rich chocolate flavors, which allows the peppermint to take center stage. If you enjoy peppermint, you should definitely give this shake a try. On the other hand, there is a discernible hint of mint in the flavor, so if you aren’t a fan of that flavor profile, you should look into other options.
Viva’s Cinnamon Roll Shake
Last but not least, the Cinnamon Roll Shake is a brand-new addition to the menu at Shake Shack, just like the Viva character herself. The cinnamon roll-flavored frozen custard in this one is swirled with golden frosting and topped with whipped cream and gold confetti.
In spite of the fact that it is a cold dessert, it has all of the delicious flavors that you love from a warm, gooey cinnamon roll. It is nicely spiced and not overly sweet, and we want Shake Shack to bring it back for another holiday season because it is definitely one that we want to try.
You’ll have plenty of time to see the DreamWorks takeover at your local Shake Shack thanks to the Trolls holiday shakes and special themed packaging, which will be available until January. You’ll also have plenty of time to see the new “Trolls Band Together” movie, which isn’t just for kids, thanks to that new NSYNC song that we ’90s babies have been waiting years for.
